However, Blackpool boss Steve McMahon has dismissed the latest speculation.
“We have been down that line before, Jon Newby rejected the chance to come to Blackpool to stay at Bury, if that’s how ambitious he is then fine," he said.
"You got a taste of the lad’s ambition and you know where he is coming from, so that is now dead in the water."
