The former Liverpool defender faces a late fitness test tomorrow after having knee surgery, and is hoping to be given the all-clear to face his former colleagues.

"It would mean so much to me to lead out Leeds against Liverpool. It's a massive game and they are a great club," he said.

"I don't think I will know anything for certain until just before kick-off because we'll leave it as late as possible.

"I've played this season with the injury because I want to play every game I can and when you look at Liverpool they don't come much bigger. But I know I will only play if I am right.

"I'm staying positive in the hope that I will make the game."
