He passed away in hospital last week after suffering a heart attack in his home.
Along with his two brothers, Bill and Joe, Arthur Shepherd played ten times under George Kay during the 1940’s.
"Arthur had a terrific turn of pace and had he not had so many injuries he would have played many more games, but it was a real man’s game then and a lot tougher," said his brother Joe.
"He lived in Anfield all his life and I remember the manager signing him in the kitchen of our house and giving him his £10 signing on fee there and then."
