Ardent Liverpool supporter and former Red Jason McAteer last night saved Peter Reid's blushes by netting the winner for Sunderland who were playing Bolton at home.

Sunderland ran out 1-0 winners thanks to McAteer's goal against his former club.

The goal eased the pressure a little from under-fire Sunderland boss Peter Reid but sent Bolton crashing towards relegation.
