The Liverpool legend was making his first start for his new club and had an immediate impact, with an assist for Martin Olsson's winner as Rovers knocked out the Bitters at Ewood Park.

"Robbie was outstanding. He hasn't played since December. Robbie has been chomping at the bit and maybe felt as though he had a point to prove," said Blackburn boss Paul Ince.

"He made a difference with the goal and had some lovely touches."
