"I was in Portugal on holiday and met up with Steve McManaman to travel over to Turkey, where we also met up with Steve Harkness," says the striker in an interview with official publication LFC Magazine.
"Sitting there in the stands, watching the game from a fan's perspective, I remember thinking the chance to take part in a game like that with Liverpool had well passed me by. I'd never have dreamt of this back then.
"Who knows, I could be sat in the stands again this time! But just having the chance to be involved in the Champions League final as a Liverpool player again is surreal for me."
