Fowler shrugs off sub decision

Fowler was subsituted in the 89th minute yesterday so the whole of Anfield could give him a standing ovation. Unfortunately for the striker Liverpool were then awarded a penalty in the 90th minute and Fowler was denied the chance of a final Reds' goal in front of the Kop.

"It's just one of those things. The manager has been great and I can't thank him enough for giving me a chance by bringing me back to Liverpool," said the Liverpool legend.

"I know what he was doing in bringing me off and getting me a good ovation from the crowd.

"But as I've said before, things don't always go to plan in football. If I was on the pitch, I'd have taken the penalty, and if we'd have won the game, it would have been better.

"But with a bit of luck, I'll be involved in the Champions League final and we'll see what happens there."
