Le Havre had originally finished in the relegation places - news which sparked speculation concerning the future of both player's for next season - but the sensational demotion of Le Championett runners-up Monaco due to severe financial problems means that the club may play host to top-flight football yet again next season.

Gerard Houllier, of course, had stated that the two prodigious talents would continue to play in their native country if Le Havre maintained their top-flight status.

Monaco, however, have seven days to launch an appeal against the decision. They could avoid relegation if they can persuade secure investors to take on the club's reputed £57m debt.
