Fulham sad to see Finnan go

The Republic of Ireland defender has agreed to join Liverpool for an expected fee of £3.5m and the Fulham supremo knows only too well that his side will struggle to replace the 27-year-old.

Langham, speaking to Fulham's official website, said: "We are all very sorry to see Steve go to Liverpool as he was such an integral part of our squad at Fulham.

"However I know that Steve is hungry for success and has ambitions to play on a bigger European stage. Consequently, at 27 years of age, he needed to make a decision that was right for his footballing career.

"We wish him every success in the future and I know that he will be sadly missed by the supporters, as he will by everyone at Fulham FC."
