Garcia nets three

Luis Garcia has ensured Spain are within touching distance of the World Cup after scoring a hat-trick in his side's 5-1 hammering of Slovakia.

Garcia opened the scoring in the 2th minute after headering home a Xavi cross. He made it 2-0 eight minutes later when Xavi again set him up to hammer the ball home. Garcia competed his hat-trick in the 74th minute when he converted a cross from Valencia winger Vicente.

Fellow Red Fernando Morientes also got on the scoresheet, netting the fifth minutes after replacing man of the match Garcia.

Xabi Alonso was a second half substitute while Pepe Reina was an unused sub.
