Liverpool are on the verge of agreeing a cash only deal to sign Athletico captain Fernando Torres, after any player plus cash deal was turned down.

Luis Garcia may still join the Spanish side in a seperate move however.

The Reds will hope to recoup most of the £6m they paid Barcelona for Garcia three years ago.
