Gem of a first season

"I am very, very happy," said the youngster. "I went straight into the 16 at the start of the season and I managed to stay there. I played a few games from the start which shows that the boss has faith in me.

"I've played around 24 games for the first team, which is not bad at all for my first year in England. I've certainly not got any regrets about coming to Liverpool.

"I can't rest on my laurels. As pleased as I am with the way this season has gone, I can't afford to be content with just that.

"My objective is to be a regular player for Liverpool one day. I don't intend being a substitute or someone who only plays occasionally. In life you have to have goals."
