It has been reported in Germany that Arsenal have stepped-up their interest in Dietmar Hamann by making contact with his agent regarding the players possible availability.

Speculation over the last few days has worringly suggested that the German international could be shown the door in the summer. Bayern Munich and Arsenal would be keen to snap him-up if he was put on the market but the summer is a long way off and the whole thing will probably die of death by then.

Meanwhile the local press is refusing to give the speculation much space despite the international coverage its has received. It has been reported in the UK and in Germany that a transfer request has been made by the player and that his agent is refusing to deny an alleged bust-up. The local press here seem to think it's just mindless speculation but some supporters may feel they're just respectfully towing the line.

Speaking On Tuesday, Hamann's agent confirmed that a meeting had been arranged for today following the speculation. He said: "The position is that there will be a meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) morning in my office. We will be talking but I can't confirm anything else."

He later followed that statement up by claiming that the player was 100% happy at Liverpool insisting that he will not be leaving in the summer.

Despite all the whispers, rumours, golden-handshakes, denials and lack-of, supporters will be pleased to know that one source close to the club is playing down the speculation that Didi will be on his way stating that any alleged disagreements or misunderstandings have already blown over.
