After being called up to the England squad for the first time this week Barton could have expected a cool reception but Gerrard has defended his fellow Scouser's comments.
"Myself, Frank and Joey will be having a lot of chats over the next couple of days- I'm sure we can put it to bed," said Gerrard, who is set to captain England tomorrow.
"I have read the interview he did. As far as I am concerned there are no hard feelings.
"I think Joey is similar to myself. When he does interviews he is really honest and likes to say what he feels. I think every footballer has said things that they regret slightly and you learn from those things."
