Gerrard defends Carson

Carson gifted Croatia an early lead last night when he allowed Niko Kranjcar's speculative effort to slip through his fingers. After the match Gerrard had words of comfort for Carson.

"Scott is obviously disappointed. He knows he's made a mistake. But he's a young lad and he's got a bright future," said the Reds captain.

"He's got to get it out of his system as soon as possible. I'm good friends with him and really feel for him."
