Gerrard genius recognised in European Footballer of Year award

The Brazil and Barcelona player Ronaldinho took the Ballon d'Or, enabling him to complete an impressive hat trick of personal awards, adding to the
FIFA World Player of the Year which he won in 2004, and the FIFpro World Player of the Year, which he won earlier in the year.

But Gerrard was recognised as the driving force in the European champions midfield, finishing close behind Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard, who took the second spot.
