Hyypia will play his final game for the Reds on Sunday after a decade with the club. Steven Gerrard is the latest of his team mates to praise the defensive colossus.
"It's difficult to put into words. He's been fantastic for us - a colossus," said the skipper.
"He certainly deserves legendary status and he's definitely one of the best players I've ever played with. They're the biggest compliments I can pay Sami."
