Gerrard happy with Harry

The 22-year-old tough-tackling midfielder feels that Kewell's ability to play in a variety of positions should keep opposition defences on their toes for the season to come.

Gerrard said: "Hopefully Harry will give us that extra dimension. We tried Harry in all different positions during pre-season and I am sure Gerard Houllier will keep changing so defences don't know what to expect."

While Kewell will be expected to transform Liverpool's attacking play in the forthcoming campaign, Gerrard insists that he is only too happy to sacrifice much of his offensive play in the absence of defensive-midfield colleague Dietmar Hamann.

Gerrard added: "I may be asked to sit, where as last season I was getting forward, but I can do that."
