Gerrard hoping for Hamann return

The 29-year-old German international is expected to make his long-awaited first start of the season in Thursday's UEFA Cup tie with Steaua Bucharest at Anfield, and Gerrard expects the calming presence of the former Bayern Munich to release the defensive shackles that have burdened his attacking inclinations in his team-mates absence.
Gerrard said: "Everyone knows I do like going forward and getting into the box and trying to score a few goals. I haven't scored yet this season.
"I'm hoping Didi starts against Steaua Bucharest at Anfield. I know that's the manager's decision but if Didi is back I'm sure I'll relish the role of getting forward."
