A capacity crowd will be at Anfield to celebrate a place in next season's elite European competition and the inspirational Reds skipper wants to end a turbulent campaign with a sign of hoped-for success to come.

Gerrard, speaking to the club's official website, said: "People might think we will be taking our foot off the pedal, that we'll be celebrating and treating it like a testimonial game, but I can assure everyone that all the lads will be up for it and want to finish the season on a high note. We want to give the fans something to celebrate when they're out in town after tomorrow's match and we want to cement that fourth place.

"I believe it's going to be a flag day so there's bound to be a carnival atmosphere and hopefully we can reward the fans by continuing our recent impressive form that has saw us win the last three games without conceding a goal."
