Many felt the Reds boss went too far when he labasted Gerrard after a poor performance in Basle. Gerrard, though, beliueves the harsh words were deserved.
"The manager had every right to criticise my performance, but it wasn't anything to do with my social life," insists the England midfielder. "I'm paid a lot of money by the club to play football and in the Basle game and four or five games before that, I was not playing to my best. My fitness is fine and I think I'm playing a lot better now than I was."
