Gerrard likely to be fit

Gerrard sat out the Super Cup final after picking up a calf injury in Liverpool's Premier League game with Sunderland. However, the Reds' captain is set to play for England against Wales at the Millenium stadium this weekend after shaking off the injury.

England manager Sven Goran Eriksson said: "Steve Gerrard did some good work on Tuesday, not with the other players but with the physio.

"Hopefully on Thursday he will train with us. The physio and doctor think he will be ready for Saturday."
