The operation, however, resulted in Gerrard missing the World Cup finals, but now he’s looking to make up for lost time.
He said: "I am confident my injury problems are behind me now.
"I am not saying I will never miss any games in the future, but I am a lot happier with the way things are now.
"There are certain goals I want to achieve this season. Proving myself with Liverpool and helping them to win the title is obviously a huge aim, but I also want to take a step up at international level.
"I want to make my mark at this level. I still have a lot to learn and there is a lot of improving left to do, but I am confident I can prove myself."
