Gerrard not giving up on title

Chelsea are currently 17 points clear of Liverpool (albeit having played two games more) who are in third place in the Premiership at the moment. The Reds play second placed Man Utd today and Gerrard says neither the Reds nor United will have given up on catching Chelsea just yet.

"There's no way either of us would give up on the title. We both know Chelsea have an advantage, but it's only halfway through the season and there's plenty of time to catch them." said the Liverpool captain.

"You never know what twists and turns can happen and I don't think there's a player in either side who'll give up until it's all over.

"Maybe some people are looking at this one differently to other previous meetings because we're a lot closer in the table. In terms of points, it could have more significance than some of our recent meetings.

"But if you ask the fans, I'm sure a lot of them will tell you every game between us matters more than any. It's certainly there with the Merseyside derby as far as we're concerned.

"There's always an edge to it when Liverpool and Manchester United meet. It has always been a massive game, no matter where either club is in the table."
