Gerrard not worried

Liverpool ended their pre-season campaign with a humiliating 5-0 defeat to FSV Mainz. That result followed defeats to Grasshoppers Zurich and Kaiserslauten. However, Steven Gerrard is refusing to panic.

"The message is don't panic. I know people are going to look at the score and be shocked, but you've got to look at the factors. We've been doing a lot of hard work all week, including some weight training before matches, which has taken a lot out of the lads," said the Liverpool skipper.

"It's never a nice feeling to lose any game for Liverpool, but what happened at the end was understandable. This trip has been all about fitness and it's been a tough ten days, but it's going to be different when the competitive games start."
