Gerrard pleased with England performance

It was the perfect start to Steve McClaren's career as England manager as he saw his side race into a 4-0 lead before half time. New vice captain Steven Gerrard was pleased with the team's performance.

"It would have been nice to get a couple more goals in the second half, but the game was won after the first half, when we were superb," he said.

"You have to give us credit. We made Greece look a poor team because of the way we pressed them and suffocated them.

"We have set the standards and now we have to maintain them."
