Gerrard pleased with win

Gerrard admitted last week he was disappointed with the Reds' domestic form this season but said yesterday' 3-1 away win over Bolton was the perfect tonic.

"As captain of the team, a rallying cry is sometimes needed. We are disappointed about where we are in the league. It's important we do rally, that we do stick together and keep fighting until the end," said the skipper.

"It wasn't a negative rallying cry, it was to try and be positive and get a reaction because we are used to big performances and big wins at this football club.

"This was another massive result because everyone around us has been doing well. We've been slightly inconsistent, so it's important to get maximum points. Now we can go into Wednesday's game with a lot of confidence."
