England booked a quarter final match against Portugal when they beat Ecuador 1-0 yesterday afternoon. Wayne Rooney played the full 90 minutes for England and earned the praise of Steven Gerrard.
"It will be crucial for the team if he [Rooney] keeps getting fitter and fitter. If he gets a goal for his confidence as well I'm sure he can lead us all the way," said the Liverpool skipper.
