"I looked fit today because I've had a painkiller injection to play, but the story is that I have to rest it now so I can be fit for these big qualifiers for England," he said after Liverpool's draw with Chelsea.
"I'll be assessed in the morning and a decision will be made tomorrow. I've spoken to Steve McClaren and I'll speak to him again tomorrow."
