The Liverpool midfielder missed the World Cup finals in the summer with a groin injury, and is keen to prove his ability on the internationl stage.
I think the time has come now for people to talk about what I have done in an England shirt and not what I could have done. Or what I am maybe capable of doing," he said.
"Missing the World Cup was a massive disappointment and I have said before how sick I was to have to stay at home. I thought the team did well, but if someone says they missed me, then I take it as a compliment."
"I want to make my mark at this level. I still have a lot to learn and there is a lot of improving to do, but I am confident I can prove myself.
"There is a bit of pressure that goes along with that but it is a nice pressure."
