Steven Gerrard has been undergoing high-temperature training sessions to prepare himself for the heat in Japan.

.
The Liverpool midfielder has been working out in simulated temperatures of 80 degrees at the Everton Park Sports Centre thanks to Alan Gregory, the centre manager.

Industrial heaters were brought in to increase the heat in the sports hall and all windows and doors were taped up to ensure no heat was lost. The midfielder then completed an exhausting 90 minute workout and a brief game of football.

The results showed that Gerrard can expect to lose around 2.7 litres of water in every game during the World Cup finals.
