Following Sunday's game with Galatasaray, where Gerrard was sent of for the fifth time in his career, the Liverpool midfielder is determined to curb his aggression.

"The dirty tricks are part and parcel of the game," he said. "Teams set out to wind you up. You have to be more cool on the pitch and not get yourself sent off.

"I think it is just experience, and I will learn from it. I am now old enough to know that I have got to learn from these things.

"But you've got to make sure you don't get sucked in and wound up. You've got to deal with it. The key is to be cool and calm and get on with it."

Does Gerrard need to calm down?
