Gerrard waiting on manager news

Former Valencia coach Benitez is the overwhelming favourite to replace Gerard Houllier at Anfield, but Gerrard has admitted that he has yet to be told if the Spaniard is indeed set for a Merseyside move.

"It is interesting, as you say, and I am keeping a close eye on what is happening in the news," revealed Gerrard.

"Rick Parry has been reported as saying they will make an announcement when he gets back from holiday. I am looking forward to that."
