Gerrard said: "Winning the European Cup with Liverpool was clearly the highlight of my career so far, but now I want us to do it again. My next ambition is to match Emlyn Hughes, who's the only Liverpool captain to lift the European Cup twice. I've managed to get my hands on it once, and it's a feeling I'd like again.
"There have been some up-and-downs in my career, but I'm proud to have done so much by the age of 25.
"My aim is to carry on winning trophies and achieve a lot more with Liverpool. I hope the highlights of my career so far have only been half what they will be by the time I stop playing."
