Gerrard: We deserve it

"I didn't say we can't win it, but I said we are massive underdogs and I doubted we'd win it because at the time there were some fantastic teams," admitted the Reds skipper. "Milan, Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal were all the favourites and nobody was talking about Liverpool.

"But we deserve to be where we are. We've put in some tremendous performances and did really well throughout the tournament, scored some good goals and deserve to be where we are and nobody can take it away from us.

"We're in the Champions League final but the boss is still not happy. I think that goes to show what kind of manager he is. He wants more and more from his players and more and more success.

"Everyone is talking about the Champions League and he's already thinking about how to improve next year in the league.

"He's a wonderful manager, he's very tactical and is interested in small details and works very hard. He's at the training ground all the time, takes every training session and has done really well to get us where we are in his first season, and will bring many trophies to Anfield.

"He's had no luck with injuries. We've suffered some big injuries to big players and I think that's affected our form through the season.

"The training over the last seven to ten days has been really intense and a lot quicker because everyone is pushing for final places and hopefully it will bring out the best in the team on the night."
