Gerrard won't give up on Premiership race

Despite a daunting 13 point gap between the Reds and Manchester United at present, Liverpool would probably need a near unbeaten run till the end of the season - and hope for United to lose around four games for the Reds to make a serious challenge.

Gerrard said, "The frustrating thing for us is we made a slow start again, just like last season, and left ourselves so far behind. But there's a hell of a lot of football left to be played this season. All the top sides have still got to come to Anfield. I'm naturally positive and I know we'll fight on and never give up. At the same time, you know you've got to be realistic."

"I just like the way things are going now, because we all know what this team is capable of and no matter what anyone thinks, we're not a million miles away from the top two."

He added, "We're playing a lot better now and I'd say we're back to our consistently true level for the first time this season. We're keeping clean sheets, scoring goals and, most importantly, working hard for our results."
