Gerrard's summer dreaming

The influential captain said that whilst he is desperate to bring success to Anfield, he is also aware that at 24 years of age, there are likely to be only six or seven years more of top flight football in him.

He said: ""If I am successful at this club I won't have to be looking somewhere else, but if things are not looking good then I will have to think again in the summer. I am a winner and I want to win medals. By the time I am 35 I want a big family and to be able to show my children all the medals I won in my career."

Gerrard added: "I will be 25 next summer and will only have five or six years left at the highest level to win things so I hope the turnaround will happen quite sharpish. I cannot wait three or four years for the club to turn around and to wait for it to become a title winning side again."

But Gerrard re-iterated his love for the club and the fans and admitted he wants to win with Liverpool rather than any other team.

"It is such a difficult question for me because I know if I go some fans will understand but others will be really upset and turn against me.

"I want to win things with Liverpool more than anything, that would give me most pleasure. But I want to be in the title race for real next season," he said.
