Newcastle are having a good run of form of late, having progressed in both the FA and UEFA cups and climed up the Premiership. It's the confidence from such results contrasted with the disappointment the Liverpool players will be feeling after the Carling Cup final that Given believes will give his side the edge.

"Victories breed confidence and as a unit we're feeling more confident," said the Irish international. "We've had some great results and the way we're playing there's no reason why we can't beat Liverpool.

"I don't think we fear anyone. It's amazing what a few victories do in breeding confidence. It's a huge thing in football and it's very high at the moment."
