Goal would have been nice admits Kuyt

Kuyt was a second half subsitute for Peter Crouch and immediately won over the Liverpool fans with his display. It was an impressive 40 minutes or so from the Reds' latest aquisition although Kuyt did admit it would have been nice to get the goal his play deserved.

"It was wonderful to make my Anfield debut and wonderful to win the game," said the Dutch striker.

"It would have been nice to score but that can wait. The important thing today was to win the game and pick up the three points. I am delighted we have done that.

"We have a wonderful squad here with great players and there's every chance we can have a good season."
