Goals will come says Miller

While they have started the season defensively sound, the Reds have scored just three Premiership goals in five games so far but Miller says the players and coaching staff are working on this in training.

"I don't think we can say be complacent and say it's only a matter of time before the goals start coming. People have said before that some teams are too good to go down and then they've been relegated. You can't take anything for granted in this game," said Miller.

"We've got to be proactive and we've got to make it happen. We've got to ask ourselves how we can improve our goals ratio and how we can get more bodies into the penalty area. That's what we're trying to do at present.

"Peter Crouch brings a lot to the side and he will help us a great deal this season. From an aerial point of view when we throw it up to him he can control it because he has excellent close control for such a big man. He's very nimble on his feet and when he takes possession of the ball he can hold it up and so allow the support from midfield to join in with him. Peter will get better and will, I'm sure, help us get lots of goals.

"I was speaking with Steve Clarke (Chelsea coach) before the Chelsea game on Wednesday and he was saying he felt we had dominated a lot of games this season without punishing the opposition. That's what we've got to start doing.

"On the plus side we've definitely improved our defending structure this year. We're quicker to help each other and the players realise that when it comes to defending you need to have a team mentality.

"It's important to have a solid defence when you don't have possession of the ball. You need to have players who know how to deny space for the opposition to exploit. We're getting the message across to the players and they're working very hard in training."
