Gonzales has been desperate to join the Reds ever since Benitez declared an interest and yesterday spoke of his delight in finally being allowed to join the Liverpool squad.
"I have always said I wanted to play for Liverpool, and even when I had to wait a year I still wanted that more than anything," he said.
"The manager showed faith in me by signing me and waiting for me, and I want to repay that."
