Liverpool's new winger was sent home from Chile's squad after being found in a Dublin hotel with his teammate Reinaldo Navia and two girls the night before the friendly against the Republic of Ireland.

Both players claimed the girls were just wanting autographs but the national coach Nelson Augusta refused to believe them and sent them home.

"As long as the current coach remains in charge I will never play for Chile," Gonzalez said.

"If they change the coach then I would want to play again, but he is a popular man because he took Chile to the World Cup in 1998 and has won many titles back home."
