The Mirror claims that Liverpool have opened talks over a £20m move for Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Gotze and other news outlets are reporting the same story.
Apparently, talks between the two clubs are ‘understood to have taken place’.
Jurgen Klopp had unsuccessfully tried to sign the 24-year-old forward last summer, but he chose to move back to his former club instead. But Gotze has had a poor season, prompting rumours of a summer move.
With Liverpool needing to strengthen their squad if they are to compete in European competition next season, whether that be in the Champions League by claiming a top four place or Europea League, Klopp will certainly be given the funds needed to bring in new players while at the same time offloading those who aren't fitting into his plans.
