The 22-year-old Frenchman produced a fine second-half display as Alex Mcleish's men eased to a 2-0 win over Premiership opposition in a high-profile pre-season warm up.

Vignal has enjoyed loan spells at Bastia and Espanyol after seeing his first-team opportunities become limited in previous seasons and a spell in Scotland now beckons for the promising left-back.

"There is the possibility we could get Gregory on loan," revealed Rangers manager McLeish.

"He had a good first season at Liverpool with Gerard Houllier, when they won the three cups, but he has been loaned out because of competition for places there.

"He looked alright in his 45 minutes tonight and I'll speak to him and his representatives to see what is for the best. I'd like to take him to Newcastle with us."
