Guthrie joins Bolton

Guthrie, who has made three first team appearances for the Reds, spent the second half of last season on loan with Southampton where he impressed. The Saints wanted to sign the Liverpool midfielder on a permanent basis, but that fell through after Guthrie was offered the chance to play regular Premiership football with Bolton.

"Danny is a dynamic midfielder who is very comfortable on the ball," said Trotters boss and ex-Red Sammy Lee.

"He has a tremendous work-ethic and has got a great engine. He is a very good passer who will suit our type of football."
