Hamann said: "It would have been a big blow to our morale if we had crashed out of the UEFA Cup. Victory over Auxerre has given us a lift and we hope to carry this good form with us into the final against United.
"Manchester United have been the most successful team in England over the last decade. But we have done well against them in recent years. As a Liverpool player it is always special to beat them and let's hope we can do say again on Sunday. Occasions don't come much bigger than this."
