"It doesn't make any difference to my preparations and I'll prepare as if I'm playing," said the German midfielder.

"The manager will pick what he thinks is his best eleven and I'll hope to be in it. If not, I may be needed in the later stages of the game.

"You can't take anything for granted in this game, especially when you play for a big club. Every final is special.

"I still get the same feelings now I had when I first reached a final. If you don't get that buzz you'll never perform to the level you did.

"Most of the boys have been through a lot of finals. They took part in the game in Istanbul so there's no advice they need from me. Once the whistle blows they'll deal with it.

"That's what it's about at Liverpool. You want to create a winning habit. It's been a very good season for us, collecting over 80 points.

"There's been a major improvement on last year and victory on Saturday would be another step forward. It's all about getting used to winning."
