Hamann: We got what we deserved

Hamann refused to offer any excuses for Liverpool's comprehensive 2-0 defeat at the hands of Scottish champions Celtic at Anfield last night. The German international feels the Reds must now concentrate on trying to claim an elusive Champions League spot.

Hamann said: "We didn't play well enough to deserve anything last night. It was harsh on us when they scored so close to half time, but in the second half we didn't create enough chances.

"They defended well - better than they did last week - and full credit to them. It would have been different had one of our first half chances gone in, but it wasn't to be.

"I'm not really bothered who wins the competition now but I do wish Celtic all the best."
