Hansen: Reds have reached rock bottom

Hansen believes Gerard Houllier must abandon his rotation system if he is to regain the winning formula that has eluded him for so long.

He said: "On Wednesday at Newcastle, Liverpool hit rock bottom. Not only did they not play well but the commitment was poor as well. At the moment they seem to be taking one step forward then three back.

"No wins in 10 games tells its own story and there are no excuses. The team is not scoring a lot of goals and letting too many in, which is a horrible combination.

"They are struggling for confidence and things seem to have gone from bad to worse.

"Gerard has had two or three injuries to key players but the ones who have come in are not as good as we thought they were.

"Now they are 12 points behind Arsenal and seven away from Manchester United. If you are being realistic Liverpool need to win 14 and draw one of their remaining matches and then hope the other two teams fold. I can't see that happening."
