"Since he came back from injury Harry has been in the treatment room after every training session and every game," Houllier said.
"He's been playing through the pain barrier as his injury has not cleared up yet and he will continue to feel it for a few more weeks.
"But he is aware of that. Apparently it is common to still feel pain after an injury like this for some time and it might be another four weeks before he doesn't feel it.
"He can still play, but he is feeling it. We don't think it will need surgery - it just needs time for the build-up of blood to disappear."
"The good thing is the effort is there. He doesn't hide from anything, even in the tackle. But I think he is trying too hard. He should just play his game. He's an instinctive, explosive player who can make and score goals.
"January has not been a good month for him but it won't stay like that. Top players always suffer dips and he had set very high standards before he suffered the injury in the last minute of the Carling Cup tie with Bolton."
